Memorizing scripture doesn’t come real easy for me, but I know it is so good for my heart and mind. Recently I started placing the scripture I was memorizing on the wallpaper of my phone. It is so good to see that scripture often throughout the day. It really helps it sink into my mind and heart. Placing scripture in a highly visible spot reminded me of the verses…
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 – These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
That made me think of other places I could put God’s word and out of that thought process the printables were born.
Creating the printables is my way of being artistic. My sister Pennie Strople is what I consider a “true” artist. She creates amazing, spectacular paintings. I can remember being in an art class with her when we were about 10 and 8 and I was so disappointed that my “baby” sister was so much more talented than I was. After that any creative thoughts I had were pretty squashed by my own lack of confidence.
Anyways…as I drag my thoughts from the rabbit trail the previous paragraph evoked … the printables are helping me recapture that creative part of myself that I shut down so long ago. As of this writing I’ve only done 15 or so printables, so it is still fairly new, but I’ve already seen growth in them. I can’t wait to see the printables that are created in the future.
The best part about being creative is that I can feel the Holy Spirit flowing through me as I create. It makes sense. We serve a Creator God. He created us and He gave us the ability to create. Sometimes when creating flows from me I feel so close to Him. Like His heart is beating with mine.
With that being said, I would like to encourage you to find your own place of creativity. Open your heart to that creative place inside you that God has gifted you with. We all have it. That place may not even seem like it is creative to you, but it is creative to God. I found a few scripture verses about creativity that I would like to pass on to you (and maybe make into printables) to help encourage us all to be creative with the gifts that God has given us. May they inspire you to grow in your creativity.
Genesis 1:27 – So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Revelation 4:11 – “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Proverbs 22:29 – Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.
Exodus 31:3-5 – and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.
1 Timothy 4:14-15 – Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
